Peninsula Forays of January 22ndMike McCurdyThe peninsula forays were among those that went off as planned Saturday 1/22. They were originally designed to collect mushrooms for the annual MSSF Fungus Fair, which was cancelled over COVID concerns. At that point the Fungus Fair Committee launched a plan to have photo forays instead, where the photos would be uploaded to projects on iNaturalist for perpetuity. Another reason to forge on is that the peninsula forays also serve to provide annual species lists for the San Francisco Water Department and the San Mateo County Parks Department. They are the San Francisco Watershed Foray, the Huddart Park Foray, and the Wunderlich Park Foray. It was a wonderful day in the woods, and so good to see old friends at the San Francisco Watershed, but very few mushrooms were found. We had some iNaturalist observers on the foray that were quite diligent about making posts. At this point we have 115 observations, and a total of 60 species, a very small list. To see the mushrooms found on the peninsula forays, the iNaturalist.org project names are: MSSF San Francisco Watershed Foray 2022 MSSF Huddart Park Foray 2022 MSSF Wunderlich Park Foray 2022 | |
